There Are Various Types of Harem Pants From Which to Choose

The beauty of harem pants is that the only real defining characteristics are the low crotch, pant legs significantly wider than traditional straight legs, and the fact the legs come together at a point higher than at the ankles. Other than this, designers are free to experiment with different variations on these same themes.

Some designers come up with types of harem pants incorporating extremely low hanging crotches extending below the knee line, while others feature crotches that are only slightly lower than traditional pants.

These are technically considered harem pants, although the high crotch is not typical of most harem pants. A definate good starter for the less adventurous.

The area in which the waistline is to be positioned is also a characteristic with which to experiment. A high waistline will add length to the look of your lower body, especially when combined with a high heel. A low waistline harem pant is equally elegant and flattering, often adding to the sensuality harem pants naturally convey.

Here is an example of high waisted harem pants that also incorporate a significantly low crotch area. The high waist provides a slimming appearance while the billowy legs provide comfort for nearly any frame.

The legs themselves in harem pants are distinctively billowy. Some types of harem pants are distinctly roomy, while others follow more slender lines almost like a baggy type of Capri pants. A style of harem pants that is most likely to catch on is one in which the pants resemble something of a mix between skinny jeans and a pair of low hanging baggy pants not unlike those more popular in the mid to late 90's. Others resemble something like sarong pants that simply come to a closed leg portion rather than remaining open all the way to the top of the ankle area like in sarongs.

Some harem pants look as if they're combined with skinny jeans. The harem pants in this photo come to longer, skinny leg sections, but other designers are coming up with cuts that are even more obviously a mix of harem pants and skinny jeans.

Whatever type of harem pants you might choose, just be certain the pants you are wearing are appropriate for the occasion. This is not to say that harem pants are limited to only one social setting. On the contrary, there are harem pants designed for just about all types of activity. The key is the same with as any other garment or outfit - not all fabrics or style go are suitable for every circumstance.
